Readmission of Service Members
Jefferson State Community College will promptly readmit a student whose enrollment was interrupted by qualifying service in the U.S. Armed Forces or other uniformed services in accordance with 34 CFR §668.18.
An eligible student will be readmitted with the same academic status held when the student last attended or was accepted for admission to the College. This generally includes readmission to the same or most similar academic program, with the same enrollment status, previously completed credit hours, and academic standing, unless the student requests otherwise.
Students should provide notice of military service as far in advance as reasonably possible. Upon completion of qualifying service, the student must notify the College of the intent to return within the timeframes established by federal regulation. Generally, the cumulative length of qualifying military service may not exceed five years, excluding periods of service exempted under federal law.
Jefferson State will make reasonable efforts, at no additional cost to the student, to assist an eligible returning service member who requires academic preparation to resume or complete the program.
Students seeking readmission following qualifying military service should contact the Admissions Office for assistance.
Dr. Triplett now serves as Jefferson and Pell City campus PTK faculty sponsor.
