Emergency Medical Technician is designed for students wishing to begin their career in Emergency Medical Services. This course qualifies students to work or volunteer as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for a fire department, ambulance service or in private industry.

EMT is taught as a block course consisting of EMS 118, and 119 (corequisites). Students who wish to enroll in these courses must submit a program application. Students must also complete an application to the college and submit transcripts from previously attended schools. All students successfully completing the EMT Basic course will have the opportunity to take the National Registry of EMT’s Examination, which is used by the State of Alabama Department of Public Health to grant an EMT license. To be awarded the certificate, the student should complete a graduation application.
