Manufacturing and Technology is a field of study designed to prepare technically oriented individuals for employment in industries such as equipment technology and maintenance, biomedical equipment technology, industrial and commercial electronics, and welding. Manufacturing and Technology offers three options that cover these areas: (1) Biomedical Equipment Technology, (2) Electronics, and (3) Welding.
There are additional fees for the MSSC CPT certification: credentialing exams (4), MSSC registration, and the MSSC curriculum that is embedded in four of the option courses. Total current fees for all four CPT areas are $752.
Check with your four-year institution for the transferability of courses in this program. This program is not designed to transfer to a four-year institution.
Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) – Magic City Chapter
Program Overview: The Magic City FAME Chapter at Jefferson State Community College is part of the nationally recognized Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) initiative. This employer-driven program develops highly skilled Advanced Manufacturing Technicians (AMTs) through a combination of formal education and paid industry experience.
Over two years, students earn an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Mechatronics while working three days per week at a sponsoring company and attending classes two days per week. This immersive model allows students to gain hands-on experience, build professional skills, and graduate with minimal or no student debt.
Admission Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years of age by August 1
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Minimum 18 ACT composite score
- Placement into MTH 100 (Intermediate College Algebra) and ENG 101 (English Composition I)
